   The journal came in a nice, thick, and well constructed bag.There are scratches on the cover of the journal, front, back, insides and on the closure. I was just expecting it to be more like the pictures with no scratches. I’m sure it doesn’t take much for the scratches to happen. Also, it could have been beyond the manufacturer’s control. You can’t control how your material arrives, and it wouldn’t have been worth them scrapping it because of the scratches. Leather is expensive, and you do what you can with what you receive.It would be easy to slip one book out and reorganize the order of the three little books inside. For example, the pages with squares could be put to the back behind or between the lined and blank books. Yes, it is possible and I think that’s great because I don’t need the square book first, I prefer the lined book be first. So, for me, that’s a plus.The pages are tan in color, which I think is easier on the eyes than white white pages.The main book (lined) has pockets in the front and back with slits, maybe for cards or something. I was able to get a pen between the slits and still close the book with no issues, so more than likely, that’s what I will use the slits in the front pocket for.I think the size is good and I like that all forms of pages are blank; as in there’s no date or memo lines on the pages.All the best & God bless.

   Now here’s a great combination of two of my favorite things: journals and leather! (Yes, I know I should feel bad about using leather – those poor little critters – and I do. But there’s no comparison to high quality leather.) I think this particular shade of green makes it even more luxurious. The leather is sturdy but soft, and it feels like excellent quality. There are no loose threads or messy edges, and it’s not flimsy in the least. Plus, you can smell that it’s actual leather. There’s a nice soft bag enclosed in the gift box to store your journal in once you’ve filled it up. However, the inserts are a standard size, so you can put new ones in when needed and start your journey all over again.There are three different inserts: grid, ruled and blank. There are also sturdy kraft folders which are perfect for storing receipts, ticket stubs, itineraries and pictures of your cat. (Wait, is the cat thing just me?) The possibilities are endless! This is a travelers notebook, but it can be used for anything you like. I was a big traveler (my last trip was to Russia, and my favorite place was Poland), but I don’t feel particularly safe flying right now. This notebook is too pretty to stick in a drawer until the next trip, so I will be using mine as a regular journal, or to carry in my purse for notes and receipts. For the quality of the notebook, I certainly feel you’re getting your money’s worth. Bon voyage…or happy note taking!

   I have owned 3 travelers notebook covers over the last 10 years (2 passport size, and 1 regular size–like this one). I wanted to give this one a try because of the green color and the claim that it would scratch easily but “develop a tasteful shine”: this indicates patina–yay!First, I was pleasantly surprised by the packaging presentation of this cover; this would be great for gifting.Second, I was wowed by the shade of green. This is a vibrant jewel-tone green.Third, I tested the pull-up: photos 4 and 5 are before and after. Very happy with this amount of color-change! This means good patina potential.The brushed (flesh) side is quite shaggy, but some leathers are like that and it will eventually shed and wear away. It does come with 3 inserts, but also an organizer folder, which I missed in the description, so that’s cool.I included photos of this cover with my 2 existing covers. This one is a bit narrower than my other regular size, but it houses its inserts just fine and is large enough to house Travelers Notebook branded inserts. You can see though that the elastic is thicker on my other two. Elastics do wear out and are replaceable, so this potential issue will remedy itself. You can see in photo 10 that the leathers are comparable, but the OX is a little thinner. That said, the leather does not feel flimsier. Photo 11 however shows some discoloration (?) to the rear inside cover. This isn’t a drawback for me as I like leather with scars and character, but this could be a consideration for those who want a pristine product right out of the package. Also, while the microfiber pouch is a nice addition, I don’t see the purpose..it’s too small to cinch closed around the cover. But it did show me that there was some dye transfer from the green, so be warned that these covers could transfer color to light or porous materials.In all, this is a great little journal/planner cover for the cost, and it comes as a ready-to-go gift bundle. It’s easily customized with new elastics and inserts and will be very durable as it’s just one piece of leather. I would recommend this as a starter to anyone wanting to dip their toe into TN culture without the heftier price tag, or as a gift to a journaler, artist, graduate. I’ve had many good years with my other leather covers and I’m excited to give this one a try.
